Binge, Ronald - Concerto for Alto Sax
A three movement work written by British light music composer. The concerto is one of Binge's most well known works, perhaps dwarfed only by the music for the BBC Shipping Forecast. The first movement features a brief cadenza before the second movement Romance begins. Here is simple music, unassuming and fit for purpose. The melody is predictable and heart-warming so long as one is not expecting any stretching of the mind. The last movement Rondo skips along with an optimistic innocence. Tensions are never clung to for very long and things are rounded up before ideas are exhausted.
